“South Africa Bus Crash: Child Sole Survivor”

A shocking bus accident in South Africa led to the death of no less than 45 people, after the vehicle plummeted over a bridge, crashed into the ground and subsequently burst into flames. On Thursday, the Department of Transport announced that the fatal accident took place close to Mamatlakala, in the Limpopo region of the North.

There was a single survivor, a child of eight, who was rushed to a nearby medical facility as per the announcement of the Department of Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo. The large scale tragedy occurred as the driver lost control of the bus, crashing into the bridge’s barriers, which in turn resulted in the bus falling over the bridge and catching fire as it struck the ground.

It has been suggested that the bus was transporting Easter pilgrims from Botswana to a town called Moria, within the same province of Limpopo. Emergency services worked tirelessly into the night with some victims severely burned, others trapped within the wreckage and yet more strewn across the crash site.

South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, expressed his sincere condolences to Botswana and also to the victims’ family and friends, as reported to Reuters.
