“Rashford Condemns Months of Abuse”

Marcus Rashford has expressed his frustration over the constant abuse he has experienced this season, expressing his sentiments with an “enough is enough” message on social media platforms, formerly known as Twitter. Despite an unimpressive season where he only managed to score 8 goals in 41 games for Manchester United, Rashford garnered appreciation for his impressive performance last season where he hit the net 30 times.

Caught in the crossfire of the abuse, Rashford shared a message of a supporter declaring the ill-treatment he’s been subjected to as “disgusting” and “cruel”. Rashford acknowledged this support, affirming that he has been enduring this abuse for a prolonged period now.

Manager Erik Ten Hag rallied behind his player. Sharing his empathy towards Rashford, he emphasised the need to support and encourage him to restore his peak performance, evident in his 30-goal feat last season. Ten Hag insists that despite the lacklustre performance this season, critics need to focus more on backing up an accomplished player whose potential is well-proven.

Amid the 4-2 victory against Sheffield United at Old Trafford on Wednesday, Antony was replaced by Amad Diallo, which was met with disapproval, seemingly since many thought Diallo should have been chosen over Antony from the beginning. Rashford also faced the ire of the spectators when he was substituted due to injury in the FA Cup semi-final shootout win against Coventry. Ten Hag was questioned about what measures players need to adopt to please displeased supporters.

Ten Hag contended that fans have always thrown their weight behind the team, citing the reception at Old Trafford and consistent support during away games. He believes that there exists a substantial connection between the spectators and the team, which is fundamental to any football club.

For the upcoming match against Burnley, Mason Mount is set to return post-injury. Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez are anticipated to recover from their respective injuries before the season concludes.
