“Man Charged, Woman Rescued from River”

A gentleman is due to present himself in Kilkenny District Court following an event where a lady was saved from the River Slaney. The woman, aged 50, was rescued from the water during the occurrence in Tullow, Co Carlow, on Sunday evening. A man of 56 was apprehended at the spot during the same period, near 8pm in the vicinity of Townparks.

The constabulary attended the situation promptly and the lady was safely extricated from the perilous waters. The apprehended man was taken into custody following Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at the sight of the event. Subsequently, the man was taken to one of the constabulary’s stations in south-east.

The police announced in their official statement, “The man has subsequently been charged and is schedualed to be in Kilkenny District Court at 10.30am.” According to constabulary sources, the investigation is still in-progress. Individuals who were in the vicinity during the occurrence or have video footage from a dashboard camera or CCTV are being urged to reach out to the Carlow Police station via the line 059 9136620.
