Man Accused of Weekend Wife Assault

Pranis Zulps, a 56-year-old man from Wolseley Village, Mount Wolseley, Tullow in Co Carlow, stood before Kilkenny District Court on Tuesday, faced with the charge of assaulting his wife in Tullow. The incident is purported to have occurred on May 5th in Townpark, Tullow and Zulps is being charged under Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act for assault causing harm.

During the hearing, it was revealed that the victim, who is also Zulps’ spouse, had not given a statement concerning the event. The investigating Gardaí expressed concerns over the degree of cooperation the injured party was ready to provide, disclosing that they had been informed that the accused was permitted to return home.

Judge Geraldine Carty acknowledged the serious nature of the charge against Mr. Zulps. Sgt Morgan O’Connor, the court presenter, stated the Gardaí had no issues with granting bail. Bail conditions details were submitted to the court registrar and Zulps was released on his own bond of €500.

Judge Carty postponed the case until May 15th, it will be presented to Carlow District Court once instructions have been received from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
