“Jonathan Milan Wins Giro d’Italia’s Fourth Stage”

The fourth stage of the Giro d’Italia was won by Jonathan Milan, a member of the Lidl-Trek team, who outpaced fellow racers Kaden Groves and Phil Bauhaus in Andora. This marks Milan’s fourth victory for the year. The race saw significant support from Simone Consonni, Milan’s team-mate, enabling Milan to triumph over most of his competitors, with only Groves and Bauhaus managing to keep pace while Tim Merlier and Olav Kooij lagged behind.

Filippo Ganna of Ineos, an Olympic team-mate of Milan representing Italy, made a conspicuous effort on the Capo Mele climb, but was unsuccessful in maintaining the momentum.

Filled with exhilaration, Milan commented on the win at the finish line, expressing gratitude towards his teammates, who he said were instrumental in their belief and contribution to the success. He acknowledged Ganna’s effort during the last climb, which ended with Milan’s team catching him at a distance of 900m remaining.

In the meantime, there were no changes to the general rankings, with Tadej Pogacar preserving his lead of 46 seconds over Geraint Thomas. The next stage of the Giro will carry on with a 178km run from Genoa to Lucca on Wednesday.
