“Jacob Misses Irish National, Collarbone Broken”

Daryl Jacob, a 40-year-old jockey from Wexford, will not be able to participate in the Boylesports Irish Grand National on Easter Monday as he has fractured his collarbone. One unfortunate incident during a recent race in Newbury cost him the chance. Jacob was riding a horse named Moon Hunter for Henry Daly and was thrown off at the third fence when his horse stumbled upon hitting the front horse’s heels.

As a result of the accident, Jacob now has a collarbone fracture in two spots. His future course of action relating to recovery will be determined when he consults with specialist Geoff Graham on the upcoming Wednesday. The timing of the accident is critical as Jacob was keen on riding Intense Raffles in the Irish National, and the Aintree is not far off either. Jacob is optimistic about returning to riding in time for the Punchestown Festival, although this will be clarified in the forthcoming week. His determination is driven by the desire for a quick recovery and return to his vocation.
